"In my early professional years I was asking the question: How can I treat, or cure, or change this person? Now I would phrase the question in this way: How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for his own personal growth?"

FAQs
What is Somatic Therapy?
Somatic therapy is a body oriented therapy that uses movement and mindfulness to support healing. It means I will ask questions like ‘where do you feel that in your body?’ or ‘what is the quality of that sensation?’ These questions allow us to use the wisdom of the body through mindfulness to aid the healing journey.
Do I have to share trauma details?
The short answer is no. Sharing the details of your trauma is not a prerequisite for healing. Sometimes sharing details can be helpful if they are presenting as intrusive and dysregulating images. You get to decide what you share and what you do not, your consent is the most important thing. You are in charge of your story and who hears it.
How do I get the most out of therapy?
The therapeutic work does not stop in the session. In order to get the most out of therapy, I encourage you to embody and live the insights and skills that you learn and explore in session. I suggest journaling, practicing skills, discussing insights with loved ones and dedicating mindful moments for reflection.
